The Stampede

The Stampede

A herd of longhorn cattle moves across a dusty, open plain, their wide horns stretching across the pale, hazy sky. Muted browns and layers of dust give the scene a strong sense of movement, while the loose brushwork keeps the distant herd atmospheric rather than sharply defined. The panoramic composition works especially well above a sofa, sideboard, or other long stretch of wall, where the breadth of the scene has room to unfold.
